Welcome to J.A. Whitney, a mother–daughter owned boutique that has been serving our community since 1994.
What began as a specialty gift boutique has grown into a thoughtfully curated shop filled with gifts, home décor, baby and toddler clothing, and lifestyle pieces we truly love. We believe a store should be more than just a place to shop - it should feel welcoming, inspiring, and full of beautiful things that bring joy to everyday life and special occasions alike.
Our Story
J.A. Whitney is truly a family business. My mom and I purchased the boutique together in 2011, drawn to the idea of continuing a shop that had already been a special place for so many in our community. After starting my career as an attorney, I realized my true passion was in the creative world of retail - curating beautiful things, helping customers find meaningful gifts, and creating a welcoming place people love to visit. While my mom is now retired from her career in education, she still enjoys being part of the shop behind the scenes and joining me on buying trips. We’ve always loved shopping together, and those trips have become one of our favorite ways to discover new pieces for the store and continue building the collection we share with our customers.

Inspired By Eleanor
Becoming a mom added a whole new layer of inspiration to the shop. My daughter Eleanor - a spirited and feisty toddler - is the reason we expanded into baby and children’s clothing.
I’ve always loved dressing her, and that joy naturally carried into the store. Today, we carefully select baby and children's pieces that feel timeless, special, and fun - the kinds of outfits and gifts we would choose for our own family.
